Nasa radio & WFax

I think I've blown the audio o/p of my Nasa radio. What if I take the output direct by soldering a couple of wires direct from the loudspeaker. ??? Maybe I've also blown the mic i/p into my laptop (as that doesnt work either). I see I can configure Mscan Meteo to gave a line input rather...

    Abandoned boats

What is the law regarding abandoned boats when the previous owner is unknown. There must be thousands of these left in old boatyards, and cluttering up public harbours. - On another matter, how does one get rid of a boat that nobody wants

    Nasa depth goes blank

My standalone Nasa sounder sometimes gives a blank screen. I've checked the cable connections and it looks fine. Also cleaned up the transducer face. If I switch the power off, wait a couple of minutes and switch on again, it may work for another 5 mins or so. Anyone got any other ideas cheers

    Cabin Fans

We use a large 12v computer fan (from maplins) and made a casing for it. Just about silent and neglible power. (Think it also generates v high freq whistle which keeps mosquitoes away. Put a 50 ohm resistor in series with a switch to adjust power.

    Outboard Started

Thanks to all who responded to my earlier post. On the insistance of SWMBO and the general consensus, I forked out £3.75 for a NEW PLUG and the engine burst into life the first pull. Binned the 3 old plugs (which gave a good spark out of the engine) Cheers

    outboard wont start

good news that, - about easystart. I also have an ancient BMS 1.5 which is getting better to start over the years. Now only requires about 20 secs of heat/intermittant cranking to repair the damage done by previous applications of the evil stuff. Ref the crappy outboard - thanks for all the...

    Degreasing deep bilges

My bilge is 4' deep. Slosh around with strong detergent , pump oily mixture into old coke/water bottles then mop out with babies nappies (on a long stick) - we get funny comments in the supermarket, but its better than buying incontinance pads.

Bought 12v one last year - good airflow, but pressure unable to get thru the one way valve. Have to blow dingy up with the valve out, then quickly insert the valve and top up with foot bump. Worth the money...

Re: Boatyards in Greece & Turkey Poros boatyard - Not in Poros, but across the bay at Galatas. Phone Yannis 02980 23330 / 24146 Quite good, cheap supermarkets and tavernas nearby. Olympic Marine - near Lavrion - big and pricey, (but no charts in the chandlers !!)

    Airlock in fuel tank?

If you pressurise the tank as described, - you also have to block off the tank vent.
