Personally, as you're already looking at Victron kit (very good rep) I'd go for the Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC charger isolated 24/12-20 and keep the 12v thruster battery. Fit and forget (one set up for your battery chemistry). You'll struggle to find a 24/12v converter to supply the current required...
Well, the '150' version is around 3500 Euros, so the '200' version is certainly going to be more. Expensive, but half the price of a basic diesel gen and very quiet.
Maybe worth a look at Sail-Gen – Dedicated Water Generator . I've had a DuoGen for years and when in water mode is basically the same as the SailGen. Been vey good and is much more convenient than towing a gen on a line.
If folded dimension is the most important factor then the Brompton has it. However, having had a pair of Reise & Muller Birdy folders for 15 years, we've just 'invested' in a pair of Tern Vektron S10 folding e-bikes. They are fantastic - effort on the pedals is the same going up hill as down...
Maybe I've just been lucky, but I had a water witch on the previous boat and have had two on the current boat for about 10 years with no issues at all. Tested from time to time and they both work as expected. I also 'invested' in a bilge pump monitor (Bilge pump activity monitor by Celectron...
I found exactly the same. On high sulphur red, I was stripping and decoking my Eber Hydronic 5 about twice a year. Since running on white road diesel (3 years or so), not had to do it once. Needed a replacement combustion blower motor a little while ago and when stripped for this I found it all...
We experienced such a wind gust 'spike' just last night at about 20:30 (on board in Plymouth Yacht Haven). Conditions had been quite benign then we had some thunder and lightening (later found it hit a house setting light to the roof) followed by a really heavy downpour and a wind gust of...
I had a similar issue, but on a white car. Noticed lots of little red/brown specs over large areas. Nearby workmen had obviously been grinding, but denied it. I had great success with this product - Korrosol | Fallout Remover | Paint Surface Protection - Bilt Hamber . It may be worth a try on a...
The drain cannot be closed. It has a coil of copper pipe which acts like a u-bend on a sink. Gravity allows any water to flow round the bends and out but there's not enough pressure in the exhaust to force it out, it would seem; so there's always water in the bends keeping the gas in. I guess if...
I fitted mine in the usual upright position with exhaust and combustion air intake pointing downwards. I have the 90 degree exhaust elbow (with condensate drain) and the exhaust leads upwards from there under the gunwale then bends downwards to wards the hull fitting outlet.
I'm a fair bit younger and have had one eye done so far. This is set for distance vision, my other eye still being fairly good and working better for short distances. When I have the other done I'm not sure if I may keep it that way. You lose stereo vision but get used to it and it means without...
We are at Yacht Haven too, but note that Nathan is at Yacht Haven Quay (further up the river). He can often be found working at the marina though, it's not far.
