The Transit log is valid for 12 months from date of issue.
You can leave the boat in Turkey with a valid transit log for a period of 5 years before you have to remove the vessel from Turkish water. Tax reasons I think. But you would need to renew your TL annually.
The other issue of...
My partner and I travelled from the UK to Greece via Athens airport in May and stayed for a period of 3 weeks whilst we hunted for our boat.
On that occasion we both had our passports stamped on entry and exit and therefore have a record of the three weeks checked into and out of Schengen...
We kind of have the opposite problem in that we came into Greece via Preveza airport and didn’t get stamped in. I kinda guessed that they recorded our entry electronically and will do the same when we leave. This is different to my trip in May when we flew into Athens. On that occasion we...
Apologies if this has been covered before but I can't find anything in the forums.
Just been reading this article:
Getting "stamped" in the Greek Transit Log
With some limitations this appears to offer a solution to 90/180 for third country nationals on a boat with a TL in Greece.
My...
Having read the above NOTAM I can see that the text says:
"CAA said that permanent residents of the European Union and the Schengen area are exempted from this NOTAM, as are citizens from the following countries: Australia, North Macedonia, United Arab Emirates, United States of America, United...
On reflection the advice above is solid so I think I will just buy a new one. At least I know its good for the next few years and there are no issues with where it is registered. Thanks everyone.
If I jsut register the EPIRB against my own details without removing the previous MMSI number stored is that likely to cause me a problem should I ever need to activate the EPIRB?
I know that the German country code is programmed onto the EPIRB, ie. 211
Hi folks
Our recently purchased boat came with a McMurdo Smartfind E5 EPIRB.
The previous owner was German and the EPIRB has his MMSI number programmed into the device. I've confirmed this by running the hex code through Cospas-sarsat.
We are from the UK and the vessel is now UK registered...
This is my concern. The boat was built in UK in 2002 and exported to Turkey in 2017. There is no RCD certificate as its a home build. Selling in the UK was not an issue as the boat was splashed in 2002 and has been in operation exceeding the 5 years necessary to sell a non-RCD certified vessel...
Happy New Year Everyone.
Here is a question for the hive mind of the forum.
I am looking at boat which is for sale and the owner has kindly forwarded to me the last survey which was undertaken before he purchased.
One of the issues highlighted is around RCD compliance.
The vessel is a 2002...
If I was buying a non-vat paid vessel in EU27 as a UK resident after 31st December would I only have to pay any VAT if I was to leave the vessel in a EU27 country for more than 18 months or on returning the vessel to the UK?
Can find lots of views and guidance on VAT paid purchases but not...
I have a charter booked for Lanzarote in November and am seeking charter deposit insurance.
It seems that the usual companies who previously provided this insurance are no longer providing to UK nationals blaming Brexit induced fiscal complextities as the reason.
I have tried a number of...
