    YouTube, again.

Their stated reason for heading straight to Portugal was to get as far south as possible whilst still preserving their 90 days “Schengen time”. 90 days in 180 is a real problem for many liveaboards, and will drive many British sailors to undertake inadvisable voyages, setting off before they...

Looks like a mackerel to me

    Lulworth cove

This is a photo of the anchorage taken in March when a good groundswell was running. Not comfortable!

    Seawater intake blockage

Several years ago I made up an alarm based on one of these. STC-1000 12V/110-220V LCD Digital Temperature Controller Thermostat with Sensor | eBay I connected the thermostat to a loud buzzer and to a strip of red LEDs, all of which are mounted on my engine control panel. The sensor is held...

You seem to have already given up on its grammar. I found this an interesting read and look forward to further updates

I must go down to the sea again -- sad news

Yes you are wrong. The incident at Poole occurred in the early morning, and was unconnected with any racing.

    Swanage

I would imagine that you will need to be self sufficient if you want to go ashore. The visitor moorings are owned by Swanage Sailing club. Normally there is number to call on the buoy.

Farmers blamed for pushing Poole Harbour pollution ot 60 year high.

Here is a theory. If we encourage much more anchoring in the area, the mechanical disturbance of the seabed will break up the algae and allow the sea grass to grow. Would NE buy this one?

Was it busy in the West Country this summer?

We spent three weeks cruising as far west as Helford. The only marina we used was in Falmouth to re-provision, otherwise it was anchoring mid stream pontoons or buoys. It surprised us that it was really no busier than normal, but then the weather wasn’t great. Also what was very noticeable...

    Lightning

I have the app Lightning Alarm on my iphone and iPad which shows where the the lightning is occurring, in fairly close to real time. It will also monitor in the background and give an alert if lightning occurs within 30km of your location. Having been caught in massive and unexpected storm...

    Does anyone understand import taxes?

But we have taken back sovereignty and control. Surely that is worth far more than some additional taxation Pay up and rejoice!!

Studland Consultation Consultation - we need to get proposals amended this Thursday

I think that the RYA have failed the sailing community here. I get the impression that their response has been driven by the conservationists on the staff, rather than a robust defence of anchoring rights by their legal department. This will be a precedent that will come back to haunt us in many...

    Small leak on rudder post

I had the same problem on my Marcon 34, a centre cockpit yacht from the same era as the Warrior 35. We had an annoying leak around the rudder post letting in about half a litre each week. However it was not progressive. After a number of unsuccessful attempts to cure it on my own using...
