I hate being ripped off but I don't think that is what my local chandlery is doing, they are convenient they provide additional services such as rope splicing and they often have a cheaper alternative to the expensive brand leader.
Much more inclined to use them than say PC world or Maplins...
In the end it was no worse by Easter than any other year, been sailing out of Christchurch for 50 years haven't got enough fingers for the number of times I have heard in March that the run would be impassible for anything deeper than a flat bottomed punt. The run did change course this year so...
Thanks I had sort of worked out that was probably what the plus sign meant. What made me wonder if it is actually possible to move things on the chart was that we were putting the Christchurch Sailing Club marks out at the time which are charted and I discovered their chart positions had user...
Having used the Navionics app yesterday I was surprised to discover it is possible to move marks and apparently if you have the setting enabled have buoyage moved on your ipad by other Navionics users. I realised this when coming back to Christchurch Run I discovered the run marks were exactly...
My initial thought, they lost and are looking to get something, anything out of the process. But truth is if the government do propose Studland as a MCZ it will happen whatever the seahorse trust say, they aren't losing anything saying this.
I hope though it does show that the writing is on...
Many thanks for the help, we've identified H as Mudeford SC , I should have known that one, it looks that we will have less room for Burgees so the unidentified ones may have to go into storage.
I have looked but can't find any of them, although despite the quantity Burgee's.com isn't that complete, anyway someone on here might recognize some of them.
The Mk I to V had 3 bladed props, I was sure the Airfix model MkI I made 45 years ago had a 3 bladed prop, it wasn't until the Mk VI that a four bladed prop was introduced. (although that information comes from the web, so if you know better we can really go off topic)
Like many Sailing Clubs we have Burgee's up in the clubroom, which we are at present refurbishing, the 9 in the image above I can't identify, any ideas.
No it doesn't;) (good idea though) but I was thinking more about speaking to contractors when I tend to say I'm in charge of house management. I have had the discussion about why I'm doing it and have been known to claim it is all about the title and the shiny uniform (irony icon)..
Some interesting, I am one of those with a title (rear commodore), I regard it as tradition but tend not to use it outside the sailing fraternity. My club is also a Sailing club but I think we can be guilty of reverse snobbery on that one.
Fascinating that clearly many of the issues that raise...
Well done, somehow getting round in a Hurley seems more of an achievement to me than many of the front runners. Did in my Trident 24 20+ years ago and since over 10 times in faster boats, not sure what it would take to make me want to do it again, Pies? Probably not, but the prospect of a...
It was 1982 I have a clear memory of flying to Greece on the day it was lifted.
....on the question of there being better things to spend the money on, probably there are but unlikely it would be, lets just see if this new home shows her of well, I must admit when I saw her last time it was...
I was told the opposite was true during the first Gulf war SA was turned off because there were not enough military receivers and civilian receivers were being used. I heard at least one south coast marine electronics firm did a roaring trade to soldiers who wanted to know where their vehicle...
