Has anyone out there got a working ST60 wind display instrument surplus to requirements that I can buy? Mine has a faulty pcb causing the wind direction arrow to rotate constantly while the speed reads ok. Raymarine say they no longer do replacement pcb' so I need to find a replacement unit...
Portable suitcase type generators are supposed to be earthed. I have just bought one. It has an earth bolt/nut on the side. Any useful info on earthing them on a boat would be very much appreciated. It would be used direct into shore power inlet for charging batteries.
Thanks everyone.
Your engine doesn't have a conventional telltale water jet. The splutter/mist is normal. Mine is the same (5 yr old). It does have water cooling though so check nothing is choked with salt etc.
I can recommend Plymouth Sailing School over at Plymouth Yacht Haven. I did day skip with them. They can suggest a suitable instructor to do own boat tuition. They have a load on their books.

PS welcome to Waterworld!
Anyone any clue where I can get a new trip switch for my boat? The switch sits in the shore power panel. It has a blue reset button and a red test button. When set a red bar appears in a window. The switch is faulty (yes, I'm sure) so need a new one or one that will fit in the "hole" and replace...
Thanks Nigel. Got less than 1 v reading from red to shield! However in the process green got disconnected. Wind speed stopped. Reconnected now no wind speed reading just flashing between --- and 0.0 yet Raymarine say yellow is speed. Confused.
The arrow on the instrument started going round and round slowly when I first used it this season. I tried calibrating but once I had done 2 slow circles I didn't get the bleep warning. I carried on but the process failed and the arrow continues to do its own thing! Wind speed reads ok. Any...
Thanks James. Fingers crossed it will be straightforward. I think the bearings for a lot of boats are made by Jefa of Denmark. Anyone know if they made them for the Dufour Classic range?
Most boats I have sailed on use 25mm webbing anchored each end to a deck fitting like a d ring. One boat I had used stainless steel wire anchored the same way. I have never seen rope ones but I guess you could use something like polyester 10mm. Don't quote me on that though.
Went there some years ago, in October! Mostly all shut up! However,
Poros was noisy and busy but we found a great little harbour on south west corner of Aegina called Perdika. Very quaint and quiet. But it was October! Don't remember much else, except the pollution hanging over Athens as we...
Got the boat last year. Surveyor pointed out stiff steering. Thought it would be something easy. Turns out the problem is in the bearings, somewhere. They are tapered roller bearings, self aligning. I have read that the rudder shaft and bearings were fitted as one unit. Does anyone have...
If you really want to sell them, put them on with no reserve. Pack them and weigh them and quote for posting. That way they will sell for what the market thinks they are worth. You may be surprised. I would guess at £2 per item would be fair. But let eBay decide. I sold a load of surplus stuff...
My Quick calorifier has a leaking pressure relief valve. Quick in Italy tell me it's a 1/4 inch type, no longer available. They suggest replacing with a 1/2 inch type with adapters to suit. Space to construct with extra parts may be a problem. I'm wondering, if I dismantle it what is inside as a...
