Hi all I just wanted to share the excellent service I received from South West Boat Transport, they moved my yacht from London to Lossiemouth, did it for a great price, sorted any problems they encountered and kept me informed all the way. So top marks to Michael for his work...
Hi All,
I'm looking for a racing yacht and noticed Megalopolis, a Humphries 36 design #54 for sale in Ireland. Anyone know anything regarding this particular boat, seems to be cheap for what you're getting.
Cheers,
Thought I would finish this thread off, so did not make the trip last year, decided the trailer was not fit and a replacement could not be sourced for over a month. So boat stayed in Oban and we headed back to CZ. Anyway drove back to Oban, boat looked a little sorry for itself, after a year...
HI Thanks for the advice, I've been advised by a friend to avoid Germany when towing as they tend to pull over everyone and go over everything with fine fine toothed comb, most of what I have read suggest going to the Adriatic via France. Any truth in these rumors?
thanks

Hope someone can help me understand the nuances of insurance and trailer sailing (towing) across Europe. I have an e-boat so it is 2.8 meters wide, trailer is 2.25m wide, as I understand it I can tow a trailer with overhangs up to 2.9 meters in the UK, is it similar on the continent? My 4 by 4...
I own an e-boat so the lifting keel comes in at about 300kg. I replaced my wire with dyneema and selected a double figure of 8 knot, I read at the time that it was one of the strongest knots. Anyway it is still holding after 2 years.

When I kept the boat at Portsoy, the chippy there was always the first point of call on the way home, great fresh fish. Even when I moved her to Banff, we tried the Macduff chippy and would always go the extra miles home via Portsoy so we could have there excellent suppers. Now every time we...
I find oscillating saws very useful when working on wooden boats, blades can be a little expensive. But for cutting along the shape of the hull, they are dead easy to use.

:devilish:Is it just me, cars and boats pre 2000 (I would even goes as far and say pre-1990), generally had simpler gear, simpler engines and systems. Systems that the average DIYer could pull out the tool box and fix. Nowadays everything is a sealed box or requires a specialist tool, lift the...
Current thoughts, well my kind of sailing is along the lines of L and L Pardey, I like to have a boat that sails well, the First 42 seems to fit that, I'm an IT specialist so like having less IT systems on the boat, I look at a computer screen all day don't need to do that when I'm sailing too...
the broker said they were thinking of renewing the rigging this winter, obviously need at least one selling point as opposed to just the price.
I can't understand why they would not have it on the hard as opposed to sitting in a berth, gathering weeds etc.
