Brokerages in Ionion, advice please !

We personally had a bad experience with those you mention, we lived fulltime aboard and their answer to selling was to empty the boat and kept urging us to drop the price. As my husband said if I want to give it away I can do that without a broker!!! We ended up going with Kelvin operating...

    Washing Machines

Boatmike, A friend had a twin tub as described and she used to sit it in the cockpit with hose down cockpit drain (not best for the environment I know) anyway she could do a double duvet but that was about the limit. It never failed her and was quite good I suspect people who overload will...

    Shutting out the baking sun

Hi, We did exactly the same as Jamesmar, went to a local diy shop come garden centre and bought what we called bird netting. The type of thick net they put over fruit bushes to keep the birds away. Cut it to size tied it to the bimney and guard rail and it worked a treat. Stay cool!

    Spanish Internet Dongles

Ways to pay beware There are many local companies and deals to be had. Last year we have a Blau dongle very cheap to buy first month free, 27 euros a month for 2G info we thought really good and reliable until we went to pay for the second money and were told we could only top up by using a...

Greece have things changed or is this the future

Mo, Unless the law has changed since we were there which is just over a year now, you can actually refuse the stamp. It is (or was) the law that you had to have a stamp once a month, if you have a stamp already you can refuse the stamp on the log but you still have to pay up your euros for...

    Where to overwinter in Greece

winter mooring messolonghi Curly sue, No matter what you may read about Messolonghi you really should try it. We had a wonderful winter, the local people are great and if you check out U-Tube you'll see that they have a community room with lots of live-aboards and having a great party through...

    Selling your boat

I agree with the theme of it's luck. When we recently sold we had been trying for almost two years. We had it with three brokers, two magazines and we put a board up on the boom everytime we moored up. We finally sold it moored on a quayside within an hour of our arrival! The one thing we...

New to living aboard What about Buster

Totally disagree that dogs should not be on board would question if you are an animal lover - dogs are always much happier with their owners - what would you have them do with their dog when they are sailing? We have a rescue dog who has been on board since 8 weeks old and has loved every day...

    Supplementing income by working

Watch Marina Rules It has been our experience that a women who can sew is a very good commodity during the winter months - however I would warn that due to the economic climate a lot of the marinas are now saying that you cannot work on other peoples boats you either do it yourself or employ...

    Folding bikes

tennisgirl1 If it helps at all we bought two compass bikes (which is really irrelevant to my point) and brought them out to Greece from UK we had to pay 17 pounds at the airport to transport them one way which was in 2006. Don't know if the rates have changed but they go as sports equipment...

    Marmaris - pricing

Dogs Marmaris For what it is worth, as my input is now three years old. We arrived with the intention of staying in Marmaris with our Westie, one month in I was so upset with signs everywhere saying 'no dogs' (that weren't even allowed to pee on the little bits of garden that they did have in...

    dog on board

TamT When we left England over 7 years ago with a Westie 'Harry' it was going to cost 500 pounds to fly him to Athens then a long bus trip (if they would take him) from there to Levkas where the yacht was. Not to mention the cost of the carry case for him at that time which was just under 200...

Have had dealings with Paleros in the past and yes they did a good job but boy did we pay high for it!! Under the circumstances of an insurance claim maybe this won't be an issue?
