I was interested in anyones experience of getting their boat flagged under a Polish flag. By experience I mean what was the process, did you use an agent if so which one and what challenges did you encounter?
To be clear I'm not interested in VAT paid status just to head off that tangent...
I was there through the second lockdown covid had not impact. They actually had a waiting list because of schenigans at MDL across the way.
During the summer I've found marinas don't mind if you're on your boat a lot if you're only there for a month or two then move onto the next if staying in...
Do EU countries have any issues with people doing 90 days in, 90 days out repeating cycles regularly? If so is this generally bad practice?
Its not 90 out, 90 in more like 90 in 180 out taking account of the rolling aspect. But yes schengen shuffle.
Biggest issue we've had is finding anyone...
I've been to most of the UK marinas from Ipswich to Plymouth while we were prepping for our big sail.
Most didn't care about liveaboards but none really had the community that pyh did.
Also most that had winter deals didn't really mind or looked the other way for ppl onboard over winter...
Shame about pyh. I did get the faintest feeling while I was there they might be getting a little tired of the liveaboards.
It has long been a marina where people complete their final preparations before setting off on their circumnavigations. The marine services there are second to none imo...
Yeah agreed on the % front.. My testing of our last leads found that the 110's were actually closer to 80Ah new so 40Ah usable. But in colder climates and constant heavy loads it was pointless or summer heat like our fridge + freezer + laptops etc in August in the Balearics they wouldn't have...
500 quid for a 100Ah renogy one that imho is equiv to X3 120Ah leads, given the labels are usually very inaccurate combined with how quickly they deteriorate and 50% DoD vs 20% and about 170 for the charger.
Similar to Ryanroberts we use an industrial 4G router aptly named outdoor router, I also have a backup Rutx11 in case the other dies.
Main issues we have found are:
All round shelter - As mentioned at length above, if you're at anchor it's bummer when the wind changes and you need to move...
Hi Graham, by random chance we're on our Nauticat 42 in Alghero for the winter, we should meet up.
For batteries I would order lithium batteries from Germany via Renogy. You'll never need to change them again and you'll have a bit more space in your engine bay.
We reflagged to NL pre-brexit. I sailed over to Rotterdam to get it done as the office is there. It took quite a few weeks for the official to come and visit the boat but made use of the time and revarnished the sole.
Main reason is that we didn't plan to stay in the UK and thought it might...
We're currently planning on clearing into Spain from the UK via Ibiza. I've heard that it's not the easiest port to clear in/out of and was wondering if anyone had an agent that they could recommend?
If you're planning a trip to the med or back up this map from OrcaIberica.org might be helpful.
It shows the rough migration pattern dates of you're hoping to avoid 'hotspots' and haul outs...
Our plan is currently to take an offshore route but thought I'd share incase it hadn't been seen.
