Are we assuming this is a small hp outboard as if any mods are made and the boat lost control immediately upon the steering being modified would be a get out clause for an insurance company if any accident or injury would occur. The boat would turn violantly if the mod intended failed and may...
Too much fuel under the piston not allowing transfer ports to have atomised mix. Invert engine with plugs and fuel removed and see if fuel can be seen coming out the barrel. Crank slowly. If all seems well plugs back in and start normal starting procedure with maybe heated plugs to aid a good...
looks like a rebuild so engine out and remove little end mains and crankshaft. should be able to soak piston rings from both sides after a few hours get the hide mallet out or if you know someone with a small press they may need to use a piece of ally so you dont damage the crown of the piston...
No 11 looks good but i would be removing all screws and blast some air down every hole that looks suspect as salt water and carbs inner workings dont go together. Try to use soft bristles from a nylon brush before you choose a wire from your wire brush especially in the jets. May be best to do...
Send prop to steel developments for a refurbish as will come back like new. As suggested a rev counter is a must but dont expect car performance out of a 90 hp unless you strip all weight out of it like seats etc.
Transducer can be replaced cheapest. Assume its externally mounted but if internal may have come unglued or if in a liquid may need some more antifreeze in the container.
Should have asked the question first before your purchase.save your self time and many hours of work and expense. Take a competent person with you on your next purchase
I dont personally carry an outboard but am a member of a speedboat club that have willing members that would come to your aid.Keeping boat upto scratch mechanically wise and winterised is more important than humping an outboard about.A 5hp will push yourboat on a river but not against a strong...
the working braked trailer would be the only limiting factor upto gross weight as well as good working brakes on the car too as there do tend to be some idiots on the road who think they own it.
If you wasnt losing oil b4 the change shouldnt see why anything shoud change.just top it off once again and check its not losing anymore through the prop or seals wher the ujs are hardest to see as drive requires pulling from the gimbal but only if you cant see if its leaking from anywhere else
When i fitted my smart tabs there were a number of advantages which are annoying when you dont have them.boat swaying side to side at tickover speeds which no amount of steering adjustments would correct.now gone.more stable across wakes at angles give a lot less boat roll and being able to stay...
