    Problem with Kabola 24vdc boiler

I'm looking for a reference to a shop that might be able to repair the printed circuit board on a Kabola B-17 boiler, or advice from anyone else who might have experienced the same problem I have. The issue is that after 10 years, the Kabola on Delfin began to erratically stop firing the burner...

    Greenline hybrid.

I believe Greenline offers an LiFePO4 option, which would be quite a lot safer than Lithium polymer batteries.

Do toilet hoses eventually become smell permeable?

Wrapping over the wax tape with plastic is a great idea.

Do toilet hoses eventually become smell permeable?

If you do change the hoses, and wish to extend the "no smell" period perhaps indefinitely, wrap the hose with Petro Tape. Another brand name is Densyl Tape. Used on oil rigs (and Delfin), you can wrap a black iron fitting on deck with the stuff and come back in 5 years and there is no...

Do toilet hoses eventually become smell permeable?

Yes they do, over time, permeate nastiness to the outside. And it certainly doesn't take more than about 5 years before they don't pass the sniff test. You can wrap them with Petro Tape or it's equivalent of that's easier than replacing them and that will take care of the odor.

Anchor connector - help identify please

Generic Chinese, methinks. On this subject, I had an Ultra flip swivel that was rated for 38,000# breaking strength. It was mated to an 80 kilo anchor and seemed pretty robust to me. However, Ultra replaced it free of charge because they decided that the maximum weight they would recommend...

Video of an anchor as it is dug in.

Whatever the commercial connection, or lack thereof, the promotion of Mantus by Mr. Noelex seems rather endless. I like my Ultra, and am happy to recommend it, but I frankly can't imagine posting hundreds of images and many videos of how swell it is while simultaneously suggesting that all...

    Whale or container ?

I'm telling you, it's because of the French guy. Nothing gets a whale madder than a French person.

    Whale or container ?

It was probably the 65 year old French guy that got the whale pissed.

    Whale or container ?

According to this, it may take 5 months for a container to sink even if it eventually does. http://www.veromarine.co.nz/dirvz/marine/marine.nsf/content/photofeature0007

    Whale or container ?

You don't indicate what your vessel underbody looks like. We hit a whale on the way back from Hawaii and while it caused momentary panic on board, we just slid up and over a sleeper in the middle of the night. We were full keel, and no damage but I wouldn't want to repeat the exercise with a...

Best locking style chain hook ?

Used the bottom one for quite awhile, and it will not come off. Now use soft shackles, which are much stronger, and also never come off.

Lithium Ion batteries on a boat

Very helpful explanation. Have you (or anyone) any experience with carbon foam AGMs? 3000 cycles and they seem to have no memory issues with declining charge acceptance in response to less than full re-charge. http://www.bruceschwab.com/uploads/2014-firefly-handout2.pdf

    Dragging of anchors

Sorry to get all pedantic on you Jon, but actually my comment was that the heavier anchor will set more "quickly". Weight on planet earth is a function of gravity. Weight on earth is felt as the acceleration field pulling massive objects to the center of the field, a.k.a. the center of the...
