Im not talking to him as he turned down my offer to buy his boat :)
Funny enough Navaids would be on my list for replacement. The boat I am looking at has the older Raymarine kit which is pre E Series (RL?) and I would like to upgrade if the deal goes through. Hopefully the existing scanner is compatible. Maybe they wont fit
Plus other essentials...
Thank you so much one and all and I feel happier now.
I am not so much concerned about the equity as the deal I am now chasing is excellent and even I will be shocked if it depreciates significantly over the 10 year term. I cant say more except to say that I know the owner and the service...
Mike F,

The story is that I am trying to establish the risk in taking out a 10 year mortgage on a 5 year old boat. I am sticking with British brands for various reasons.
We can assume for argument sake that the 5 year old hull has passed the survey stage with no...
Thank you above for the information.
I am amazed that 30 years is possible. I am thinking that if I bought a 4 or 5 year old flybridge from one of the big four, on a 10 year mortgage, what are the chances of the hull being in good condition at the end of the term.
Would it be possible to sell...
I am also a stern thruster fan.
Agree that it is not entirely necessary but adds that final touch getting stern line on.
Thing is it is possible to use throttles, one forward, one reverse etc but my Phantom 46 would always creap forward requiring a bit more juggling.
As an example, take a typical planing hull from one of the big 4 British manufacturers.
Assuming that the hull is left in the water for 50 weeks of the year, with the usual lift for scrub, antifoul, anodes etc.
How long would you expect to get good reliable service from a 2005 hull?
IMHO...
