I have just bought a Garmin GPSMap550 for use in the cockpit, and jolly good it appears to be....BUT, I sail on the east coast, out of Brightlingsea, and there is a humungeous wind farm being constructed on the Gunfleet Sands, which is surrounded by buoys, and none of this is on the charts...
Sorry, can't help there...it was yellow, stored in the cockpit locker and eventually simple faded away. I think even the manufacturer was ashamed of it, as there was no name on it, but the seat is first class.
My stackpack was made with a thin strip of lighter fabric along the centre, which slides "easily" into the boom grove. It is still a two person job though.
I have the opposite problem. I threw away the dinghy, but kept the plywood seat and metal thingies underneath. Maybe there is a solution. If you could hold the line, I will go and find the bits.
Yes, that's the annoying thing...from a cold, stationary start-up, it runs just fine. It is only after the boat has heeled over that the problems start. My guess now is that the pump is very tired, and will no longer self-prime.
Your "gentleman's yacht" looked rather fine, I thought.
I have been studiously ignoring the possibility that my pump is not well. They are an astonishing price. But if I have to make a contribution to the economic recovery of the country, so be it.
I have a raw water cooled Yanmar 2GM20, which starts and runs just fine, with a good flow of cooling water, except when I return to harbour, after sailing, when the cooling water takes a very nervous three or four minutes to come spluttering through.
I keep the intake sea cock open at sea.
Water...
I bought a boat in Durban, RSA a few years ago, and bought all the fancy fishing gear. I then sailed three thousand miles, and never caught one single thing. I then dumped the whole lot in disgust, and the next day a flying fish hit the mainsail and flopped into the cockpit. Somebody...
We had an interesting chat from the owner/boss man of Reeds Almanac Online last night in our sailing club. The idea seems good, and the presentation was excellent. Has anybody tried it out yet? Any comments?
I had the Winchers fitted to my sheet winches (before fitting ST's) and thought they were great. The Wincher only has a small top flange which overlaps the top of the winch by about 10mm, so I'm not sure how your winch handle was obstructed. Maybe you had another make, or perhaps the wrong...
Several years ago, when I lived in East Africa, I changed the Bukh DV20 engine mounts in my Trapper 700, using LandRover 109 engine mounts, which were available, and worked just fine. They were about £10 each at the time. A local car mechanic was an absolute genius at working out which...
