Many thanks, great info. I will have a look at the Sailrite machines, it would be a good skill to learn and should more than pay for itself (assuming I can make a reasonable job of it!)
I have toyed with the idea of making some new covers for a while, even bought a semi industrial sewing machine to have a play. One thing I struggled with when trying to restitch the old covers was the needle getting gummed up with what I assume was double sided tape used to hold the fabric...
I have not done a night trip with one of my main monitor solutions yet, but both have dimmable displays. Does OpenCPN have a night mode? I used Nobeltec prior to OpenCPN - that had a night palette which worked reasonably well. The 12 inch displays I bought actually have a proper variable...
I agree the sunlight viewable monitors are the most difficult bit to find. I have tried a variety of options, from basic laptop screens, ELO touchscreens, specific marine monitors etc. The best I have found so far have been industrial bare screens. I bought one from a manufacturer in Taiwan...
I am a convert to using OpenCPN on board as my primary plotter. I use a Pi 3b interfaced to autopilot, AIS, GPS etc. Just bought a Simrad 4g radar and upgraded OpenCPN to the latest version including the new radar plugin. All works remarkably well so far but not tried the radar out for long - I...
Indeed, I'm not complaining. Would have been nice to have found some stuff on my shopping list but did get the chance to view a few boats and have good chats with several vendors....and a beer!
Went today, was approx 70% of previous size I would guess, several companies that have always been there were missing, and the halls were very quiet. What was really noticeable though was how quickly the place emptied, we left approx 17.30, went into the Festival Green (food/drink etc) on way...
Ah, many thanks, that makes sense. I understand the issue with coral fouling, but could not work out why the engines did not appear to be over-fueling. This is the missing bit of info. Looking forward to getting it scrubbed in a couple of weeks!
Last July, and yes fresh antifouling applied. TBH I am not surprised about the dropoff of performance, just trying to square why the engines don't black smoke if they were being overloaded, I guess they don't overfuel if not on boost?
Hi All, had a great trip out yesterday, boat is a Fairline 45 with TAMD71a engines. She is did out of the water in a couple of weeks for a scrub, and clearly has some corral worm on props and rudders. She performed actually quite well, but really struggled to get up to speed, engines were really...
