    HMS Queen Elizabeth

So you can't trust vessel finder then! Maybe I should have checked with vesselfinderski I bet they knew where she was. Marine Traffic doesn't show her in the Forth but there is a hazy image in the background from the Port Edgar webcam. There are also a couple of ribs with blue flashing lights...

    HMS Queen Elizabeth

According to press reports, the carrier Queen Elizabeth is meant to be on her way to Rosyth to be drydocked. She was reported to be in Glen Mallon Loch Long last week where she was meant to be unloading ammunition and had a bit of a fire. Various press reports say she's now on her way to Rosyth...

Lift keels on bigger yachts - views

I looked at a lift keel JenBen (can't remember which) a few years ago and couldn't work out the benefit. There was still a stub of fin with the lift keel only there to increase the draft. You certainly couldn't take the ground and stay flat and the previous owner admitted that he'd had problems...

    Fastnet 2023 Sunfast attrition

Reading the new copy of YM and its report on this year's Fastnet race, I am struck by the fact that one Sunfast 3600 sank and one 3600, one 3200 and one 2600 were dismasted. The only other dismasting reported was a Swan 55. I don't know the Sunfast range, although I have sailed on a Sunfiz in...

    Ebersbacher controller

Well, following the instructions in the link given by Sandy, I managed to open up the controller - and there is a CR?016 battery sitting there - I presume the missing number is '2'. It looks as though it is almost completely discharged as the potential is only 0.1V. Presumably the battery is to...

    Ebersbacher controller

I take the point. However the boat was on shore power so 14.4volts was going through it, well above the minimum and well below the maximum.

Thanks for that. It's amazing what's out there.

    Ebersbacher controller

You're right, it's far too nice not to be sailing. However, the nights are cold. What a fantastic resource. It actually shows me how to open up the controller AND apparently there's a battery in there that expires. Maybe that's the answer. Thanks

    Ebersbacher controller

There is life! It's the control unit I can't open. I suspect if I can't find what's wrong I'll have to look at replacing the whole thing.

    Ebersbacher controller

Well that's the first post I can recollect in the 20 odd years I've been a member where there have been ZERO responses. Can no-one help?

    Ebersbacher controller

While the rest of the UK is enjoying heatwave conditions, let me assure you that is not the case in the East Neuk of Fife! While attending the Anstruther Muster last weekend I tried turning on the Ebersbacher only to find no power on the 7001 controller. I've checked the run of cable at each of...

    Edinburgh Marina

Port Edgar has been tarted up a lot over recent years since it came out of council hands and I'm sure there were plans to develop housing there. Some of the old MoD buildings have been upgraded and there is now rather a nice eatery there. However, my understanding is that the cost of...
