Thanks Rappey!
Supplementary question; all of the panels have been cut out to an obviously planned shape and size. Is there a cutting pattern available or, better still, a company or person who can do this professionally?
So our Treadmaster is about 40 years old. It’s still intact but looking tired. It’s preformed fitted panels which look tricky to duplicate . One option is something I saw today, a sort of toned down Treadmaster which I haven’t seen before, does anyone have any idea what it is? Is it still...
Have a conversation with the owner, his wife and his son, pointing out best and worst case scenarios.
Even if you decide not to go yourself you will still have to have that conversation so have it early. Likelihood is that they will make a sensible decision
So, surveyor yesterday. NOT full blisters; he calls it ‘wicking’. Moisture readings just at the top of amber/low reds. Tap testing produced nothing but solid noises. All good for a 40 year Sadler 32. Problems would be more likely if double hull foam filled.
Conclusion; Fill, fair, Gelshield (or...
Surveyor on Thursday for the (hopefully) definitive view. Visually there appear to be patches of voids with occasional weepers. The patches are fairly widespread.
We shall see, I’ll report back
40 year old boat, antifoul blasted off, hull sanded back to reveal blisters.
So the yard manager, who is extremely experienced, feels that the boat needs a ‘peel’ followed by lengthy washing, drying, filling, epoxying etc etc. I trust his judgement and for all of this I will engage appropriate...
An update; So I have areas where the original epoxy (40ish years)never adhered properly (a pox on the lazy twat who didn’t abrade it properly before applying) so that’s been throughly removed exposing the original gel coat. I called International who say DON’T apply Gelshield 200 directly to...
So I’m in the process of ‘re-doing’ the epoxy on the underside. The old stuff has been thoroughly sanded back and power washed and now I’m at the point of deciding which epoxy to use. The choice seems to be between International Gelshield 200 and Hempel High Protect 2, the former is slightly...
A better analogy might be a quashquai compared to an old Bugatti, or a Jag. We all know that the Qhaushquai will perform better, but where’s the cachet?
Just seen this thread.
You could have 4 Sadler 32’s, designed as an upgraded (ie more headroom!) C32 by the same man. Layout looks just like the pics in that ad, although I wish my electrics had had that look!
