Axiom pro has the option to use a knob instead of touchscreen eg in wet conditions.

I think I used a rubber belt device intended for removing screwed bottle tops to grip one half of the "egg" and a vice (very gently and with rubber padding) to hold the other half and whilst stiff, it moved and unscrewed.

That tug does remarkably well to move the tallship out from the pierhead. How far did they tow it?

I also suffered this problem and replaced the mounting having first slightly realigned it which I hoped would reduc the likelihood of further wear. I also was alerted to the problem by the annoying knocking which disturbed my sleep at times. I have since annually greased the mounting but suspect...

Thanks again. Yes, my problem is a jammed sheave which may be fixed by driving out the pin and cleaning it and the sheave.

Thanks. Sadly the thread linked in your 2018 post seems no longer to be available. I‘ll see how I get on once the block is removed and if the pin can then be removed I shall have options.

Thanks for this advice. Removal seems to be the way to go. I hope that the attachment screws are into captive nuts as it will otherwise be a pita to remove.

Thanks but the sheave in one of these has seized solid. That suggests to me that the bearings or bearing surfaces have rusted?

May I please ask for any practical guidance on servicing this deck mounted block/fairlead. Should it come apart if the small screw on the plate on the upper face is removed? All seems solid upon removing that screw and I do not wish to apply force until assured of the correct approach.

My experience with Mole Grips has taught me that they are in all ways inferior to genuine Vice Grips. Softer jaws which soon loosen and disintegrate.
