    Rabat entrance

They were lucky. The pilot went pale when they told him the draught they needed was 2.3m! They had to wait 30 minutes before he found a big enough wave for them and the helmsman could not understand a word of French and the wife had to direct him.

Titchmarsh; staying overnights on the hard?

I have stayed for a week at the time on the boat in the yard while doing work on it, with Titchmarsh's harbour master aware of it. Should not be a problem. Also one guy lived in the yard full time while building the dream boat around him! +1 on def take a heater! Plus maybe a snow showel :-)

    Stockholm changeovers

Correction: The phone numbers for the GUEST harbour are 0046155-21 72 30 (doubles as fax line) or mobile 004670-659 21 96. I finally remembered how to find the marina list, which is at: http://www.svenskagasthamnar.se/se/sok-via-karta/ Ulf

    Stockholm changeovers

I would certainly also vote for Stansted-Stockholm Skavsta (Nyköping) as the marina is in the center of town and Skavsta is a small old converted fighterbase that is very quick and easy to get through with frequent coaches to Nyköping. Nyköping is also still just about in the southern edges of...

    I failed

well done Nathan on sensible seamanship. Once out there and tired in bad weather and on your own is no fun and it is when mistakes starts creeping in. I am at Walton at the moment and I can hear the gusts come whistling through the rigging. I would not try to go into the backwaters at night in...

    Clubs-enquiry

Stour Sailing Club (Manningtree) moorings can be accessed about 2-3 hours each side of the tide, depending on the depth around the moorings. Not sure about waiting list.

    Sweden, west coast of ?

Very nice all the way up the west coast from Gothenburg. Towards the top left corner of your map is a little gem called Smögen, an old traditional fishing port. Marina very busy in summer though. Nice boardwalk with shops for SWMBO and and restaurant bars with a view over the harbour and...

How many Yacht and Sailing Clubs are there on the East Coaast?

Stour Sailing Club - Manningtree I can not remember the name of the one at Wrabness, but there is one there as well.

    Where is it?

It would have taken a lot of local knowledge to locate the place and you were on the right track even though the rugged nature made you look further up towards Norway and you were a lot closer than the guess that the rocks were off Gunfleet!

MISTLEY QUAY PROTEST RALLY 28th September

I just received the email below from Stour Sailing Club. I know it collides with the MOB excercise weekend, but as many boats as possible would be great. I am unfortunately stuck in Sweden so can not attend myself. The following has been sent to all 200 clubs in the region, Jim Ensom (Club...

What have you managed to cockup this year ?

Not too much this year, but I did missjudge the channel into Manningtree coming in the last minute on a fast dropping spring tide in the tender and hit the gravel bar with the prop. Said a few strong words and got the oars out since the shearing pin appeared to have broken as the engine did not...

    Where is it?

Close enough! It is Swedens only fjord halfway between Gothenburg and the norwegian border with the town Lysekil in the distance. An excellent cruising ground with no tides to worry about. The remnamnts of the old quarry on the island of Bohus-Malmön in the foreground hides the glacial look of...

    Where is it?

Both way too far south. It was only 9 degrees and a cold wind! It was excellent sailing weather though and I was envious

    Where is it?

Not a lot happening on the forum, so I thought this might liven it up. It was taken a few days ago and is a hard one, but it was a great view so Í just had to share it.

Beware, the vikings are coming up the East Coast!

    >>I married a Ramsgate lass. No virgins there, I can assure you. In fact no loot to pluinder either. Looks like they are using an out of date almanac then!
