I was told that they are caused by air bubbles just under the surface of a repaired area. When the thin surface film breaks away or is polished away - you see the hole(s). I believe it is almost impossible to avoid them in a repaired area.
It's 0300, dark, p**sing down. The curry and those 6 pints of the black stuff are wearing heavy. Are you seriously going to get all togged up in oilies and trudge nearly half a mile there and back or are you going to take the easy option? No brainer I think!
