    single handed

Firstly, the boat is on offer. Secondly I grew up with Swallows and Amazons, and traditional boats appeal. Thirdly I feel it is more stable than the newer lighter Bermudan rigs. BUT, I have no experience of gaf rigged boats except those I sailed as a teenager on the Norfolk Broads <hr...

    single handed

I'm now nearly 60, and having just retired, I am thinking about buying a Cornish Crabber. However the last time I did any serious sailing was about 25 years ago, so I am hoping to get some advice about sailing her single handed. <hr width=100% size=1>

    Help me choose

I posted this yesterday but it never appeared so - I have recently retired down to Poole, and upto 20 years ago, sailed mostly dinghys and the occasional chartered yacht. My wife hates anything that heels, so I bought a 6m SeaRay motor boat, and indeed she feels quite comfortable and safe in...

    Watery plugs

How can I tell if its condensation. Might it help to know that the week before I put it into the water and it staretd up immediately, as it did the next day. However I did have problems at idling speed and it needed to be revved up at 1200rpm. When I came to put it back on its swing moorings...

    Watery plugs

I couldn't start my engine - Mercruiser 4.3L - and found that the plugs were wet. Especially those aft. Any ideas where to start looking? The engine is from 1991 and has been stored in a garage for the last 3/4 years. Before that in salt water on east coast.

    Bird Crap!

The only owl I've seen on a boat (artificial not stuffed) had birds sitting on it and crapping all over it!

    Bird Crap!

I've just got back from Poole Harbour where my boat is on swing moorings.. It was lovely and clean when it arrived, but the birds have got to it. I'm sure this is an old chestnut, so I apologise in advance, but what advice do you people have to possibly prevent it, and then just to clean it...

    Syphoning

Re: Static Static BANG !!!!! OK so its not a great idea, so does anyone know the cheapest place to buy petrol in Poole Harbour?

    Syphoning

I can't afford the cost of petrol in the marina, so would like to use large plastic drums filled up at the local petrol station. The boat is on swing moorings and I don't really want to moor up along the petrol jetty to fill up. I do have a swim platform so my question is - does anyone know I...
