    You might be interested in a web seminar from the Cruising Association on the French long term visa and how it might be used to extend your time in the EU. Note it is only valid for France and there are "complexities" to be managed if using it for time in France plus more time elsewhere...

    I was at a CA seminar and the same question was asked of a coastguard presenter. He answered "if you sail in the Channel and we haven't picked you within the battery life of a PLB, then we are not coming".

    Is the engine vented i.e. a fan to draw air through the compartment? Has the fan failed and the environment very hot?

    The process is special for those 5 ports whereby passports are not stamped for entry or exit. So if you enter a port of entry you must also leave from one; if you enter one of the "special" ports then you must leave from one. See the CA link above.

    Tools for through hulls

    Use a Dremel to cut the flange off the outside. With a small enough cutter you can put it inside the pipe and cut outwards.

    I agree trudesign fittings are better and replaced those through hulls and sea cocks where there was room for these last year but where they are too big I am not using dzr. The problem is the cold for the sealant with relaunch scheduled for next week. I may have to delay...

    If it is too cold for sikaflex 291i for sealing a skin fitting and sealing between skin fitting and sea cock what sealant is suitable?

    Racing Insurance

    Bit of an issue this year as the broker proposed a change of underwriter which then got into the type of racing and how many races per year but sorted to my satisfaction in the end with reasonable increase. Insurers are Topsail and got CA discount too.
