As far as my marina in France is concerned it has nothing to do with your berthing contract but runs a calender year from the date you enrol in the scheme. As in…my contract runs Jan/Dec but Trans card is for mid May (I forgot to renew etc) this year to mid May next year.

I was speaking to someone yesterday who told me that Gravelines, between Calais and Dunkerque, now has deep water at low water which I presume is the culmination of the lock gate repairs. Small but lovely…Lidl’s 50 metres from the off ramp and an excellent bistro even closer. Very well worth a look.

My home port is Boulogne. Right by the city….5 min walk to supermarket…centre of town (which didn’t get destroyed in WW2) is beautiful. Main marina is in locked basin so very sheltered. Well worth a recce….oh, a very economic which helps!

From what I’ve seen (to be fair - not a lot) when people check in they are told to call a number for Calais customs. If you don’t it’s an ‘up to you’ situation. Just clarify there are no passport stamping officials in Boulogne so people come, and people go!

Just a ‘be prepared’ headsup if you’re planning to visit Boulogne Marina in the near future. I am English and based permanently in Boulogne and I had a conversation with the lovely staff in the marina office today re the current treatment UK boaty’s are getting from the French customs system...
