    traditional boat rally

Mooring in front of the Angel on the bridge is a not advisable, as it belongs to the pub. The public mooring just upstream is fairly shallow, is missing some of the tie off points set into the wall, and is limited time staying. Further upstream there is always space, charges as previously...

    Teleflex steering wheel fitting.

A little query if I may. Perhaps this belongs in Classic.... I have a 30 plus year old tleflex steering arrangement. The shaft on which the wheel sits is NOT what i expected, ie a 3/4 inch taper. Its starts at 1 inch, tapering to 3/4. Is this a previous standard, or have i got something really...

    4108 Temp sensor size query.

Thanks P.E. - think i've nailed it - on extracting the item i could just read a part number, which led me to what I hope is the answer! Should arrive in the post tomorrow, so we'll see! Andy

    4108 Temp sensor size query.

Here's a little question, knowing someone will have been there before! I have scoured the 4108 manual, and nowhere can i find the size and thread type for the water temp sensor. Its an older perkins 4108, with a smiths sensor, single spade connector. Probably academic, 'cos its the size of the...

One day rain = Red Boards

Likewise - went down to Hambleden yesterday and was astounded - as you say, a good 18 inches up. Fastest rise i've ever seen! A

    While we're doing boat ID

Re: While we\'re doing boat ID Still interested - yes, always spotless, even the rope fendering, which of course looks right on this type of vessel, and finally, she definitely dosn't live on the Henley reach or immediate area..... a

    While we're doing boat ID

While we\'re doing boat ID Afternoon all! Have seen the following boat once or twice per year, up on the Henley reach. Jim Shead says "Elburg", but this doesn't really answer many questions. She is called "Constant". Around 30' steel contruction, and looks like a scaled down estuary tug, or...

    National mooring ring shortage ?

Interesting Byron, but don't forget those rings=revenue, wheras EA footpath ones possibly don't! Andy

    Butane vs Propane

This made me wonder, as I used to be involved with hot air ballooning, where we always used propane. Had a little google, found this on a camping site: Of the two gases, Butane has the most advantages. It is less toxic and so can legally be used and stored indoors. Litre for litre, it...

    How many mobiles

Well, it won't be a problem soon, as it will suffer the same fate as having a drink near the helm, and will soon be considered a "Danger to Navigation", and will of course be considered an offence...... A

    Summer levels

Henley reach about the right level now. Moving swiftly though, and red boards still in evidence at Marsh. Downstream of Marsh still very excitable! Saw two mobos today, and Hobbs have got their small trip boat out. A

    Current Thames status?

....and at Henley its falling, but still about 18 inches above normal levels. Moving swiftly. Marsh lock weir still has all its gates fully open. A

    Dropping

Tacked this onto an earlier thread, but Henley levels are fractionally lower than yesterday. Hobbs to the Angel pathway isn't QUITE so awash.... A

When will it be back to normal?

Well, using my Mark I eyeball telemetry system, (as there is naff all else in this information technology age), the river level at Henley appears to have dropped by a small amount. The path from Hobbs to the bridge isn't QUITE as badly awash as this time yesterday! A
