Good evening,
I'm in the process of downsizing (by about 10 feet LOA!) and am getting reacquainted with the needs of smaller boats (e.g: HH23). Can one buy a single "box" which will:
a. Charge one or more 12v 80 AH batteries when the boat is plugged into shore power.
b. Regulate the input...
Well, you are all certainly changing some assumptions! My reason for running up the engine has been to make sure that "all is well" when I visit (really, just a comfort blanket)? If it is doing more harm than good, then I will desist!
Normally, I service our engine at the end of the season. This means that dirty oil (sulphur - rich?) doesn't sit in the sump when the engine is not being run for 5-6 months.
Normally, we run the engine (Beta 34 HP) about 100 -150 hours per season. In 2022, we managed only about 20 hours of...
Martyn, thanks for the sanity check!
All batteries OK (as per OP). Everything else works fine!
There is no breaker that I can find - most unusual.
I will check the battery Isolator switch - although it also controls the BT switch panel (which works) - so unlikely I think.
I'm yet to check...
Thank you all for your comments so far. You are quite correct to say that the combining switch put the batteries into parallel, not series. There is no discrete thruster battery. I am aware of the issue with the shear pin having suffered from this in the past. However, when that happened, the...
Please forgive my starting a new thread. However, I could find no solution elsewhere. We have a Vetus 50Kgf bow thruster fitted.
It was on the boat when we bought it - and is probably about 15-17 years old. Setup is a follows:
4 x 110 AH batteries (in two banks which are put into series(?)...
We have a Webasto Air Top 3500 fitted to Nordlys. This season it has started misbehaving - it starts up, runs for a while (and starts to heat up) , and then cuts out. The manual is not much use - it refers me to a more elaborate control panel than we have on board.
All we have is rotary...
Thank you, everyone who replied. With the absolute perversity of boats, I stepped aboard today (armed with multimeter, spare wire, extra breaker etc). I ran the bilge pump circuit as a quick trial before getting to work. Bizzarely, it all worked! Bilges now dry, owner remains confused...
Apologies if this has come up before . A search revealed nothing similar.
Anyway, on our LM32 we have 3 Whale Gulper 750 GPH bilge pumps. They are controlled by a single switch on a 15A breaker. This setup has worked for the last year.
This year, just after launch, I ran the pumps to drain...
I'm sorry for such a complex title! I have 2, related questions relating to it:
I have recently purchased a QARK Multiplexer. Setting it up to take the input from my (old-ish) Raymarine instruments and rebroadcast it on WiFi was very simple. The Navionics app on my tablet displays speed...
