I have Polish hatches on my boat and the only thing wrong is broken hinges. I have found the company that makes and can supply the hinges but they must be collected by courier at the factory gate.
Can any one suggest a company that would help in sorting the tax implications on...
So for those that know what the numbers mean, would someone suggest a suitable battery (budget preferably) and solar charging requirement to run my caravan mover for lugging my dinghy up the ramps either side of the sea wall (max 7 minutes each way) please? Motor is as shown. I will keep this at...
I have a Motorcat 30 that is powered by two 50hp outboards. The steering is hydraulic via a SeaStar HC5358 ram and SeaStar HH5271 helm pump and I would like to add a powered pump for an autohelm. SeaStar suggest a PA6010 ($2.8k - $3.5k) if I can get one here in the UK.
Can anyone suggest a...
How do you find these guys that love boat building for fun? Would love to find one that would work on my boat refurbishment in Essex, and then I would take them out on the boat several times so they could see the benefit of their work, or they could work out how to do it better next time. :sneaky:
For ease of trailing, sailing, and space, I would suggest taking a look at the Topper Cruz Ketch. Easy to move on land on a launching trolley, plenty of stowage, easily powered by an outboard and with a canvas dodger, they are flexible, easy to sail, and carry a load (4+ adults) well. Great...
Unfortunately my boat won't be in the water, but may see if I can get there if I can find accommodation. Are they practising much this week do you know? It's a long way to come from Essex, for the very short hours of racing, but would love to see the boats in action even if the forecast is only...
Recently had the chance of acquiring two Dart 15 hulls. I'm thinking of a project to use these as the amas on a dinghy cruising trimaran. Just wondered what ideas or plans there were out there for a main hull and rig. I'm thinking that a relatively small, but easily handled rig would suit, and...
Be prepared for higher 'maintenance' costs. Pushing the boat that little bit harder, or not having the right (or decent) set of sails, invariably ends in the wallet emptying a bit faster than it would normally.
Sent the wife home in the car with a lot of surplus gear whilst on a short cruise. I then headed downriver back to my own mooring. Blowing up an Avon Redstart by mouth does wonders for a headrush. Paddling a soggy dinghy back to shore did wonders for my future checklists.
Surprised that the large sophisticated plotters etc. aren't showing consumption per mile in real time as you wallow or bounce along accordingly. I thought that level of data would have been routinely available nowadays. I'm certainly looking for that sort of data if I re-engine my twin outboard...
Sorry to read the below:

Would be good if one of the luxury yacht brands took this on if there isn't a reasonable order book for the more traditional vessels.
Am I being cynical? If each one is planted in a Marina berth and used for a liveaboard then that reduces the number of available berths for boating. It also means that where the council wouldn't allow planning for houses, there will still effectively be a dwelling there, with all the associated...
Might alter your cruising plans.
