Previous owner picked up a pot years ago and stalled the engine, when it's cold it will not pick up forward gear which he was happy to live with but I'd rather not sit in a berth for 15mins while it warms up pissing everyone off then hope it gets a gear before I reverse 12tons into another yacht.
My thinking is the clutch pack on the forward drive must of glazed with the load of stalling the engine at cruising speeds so needs the oil nice and hot before they lock.
I've stripped the box and removed the output shaft and no signs of damage anywhere but I can't find any spares for the box, and don't want to strip he bearings and gears off without the proper tools to check the friction plates.
Anyone know any company's who will deal with an old obscure box.
Semi tempted to run light emery between the plates as it sits and stick it back together
