My daughter sent me the picture with this poem on as a birthday card, with dog crossed out and Dad written. I have it framed hanging in my cabin

On passage from Canaries to Cape Verde, I could not decide whether to make my port of entrance Sal or Mindelo, so I pointed the bow half way between, set the jib sheet pulling to windward and ignored the course. Three days later we were headed straight for Sal. Isn't that how everyone does it?
