Hi is there anybody who has any info of any owners of zapcats in Spain. Also does anybody know if I will have to register my craft in Spain. (not required in UK) Do all boats need to registered or only after a certain length is reached? zapcats are only 4m long and I launch of the beach ie no marina or slipway required. Any info would be great.

You may not have to register it if you are towing it from UK to Spain, but you will need an ICC. Spain is very hot on such things. You can get it via doing a Powerboat Level 2 course- ICC up to 10 meters.

Make sure though that you register it on the SSR (Small Ships Register) otherwise the Spanish could make you put it on the Spanish register and have a Spanish certificate which you will have to take in Spanish

Same with PWC's (jet ski's) in Spain, if you don't have the certificate of competence you can't even launch.

Thanks for the reply Solitaire. I have held an ICC up to 24 metres since 2002 so no problem there. I'll get her registered on the SSR and hopefully all will be well. Just need to find some other zapcatters now.

Cheers

You might also want to check with someone local to where you want to launch as there are restrictions and, in the summer, the coastline is buoyed, with specific marked channels for approaching the beach.
