got it sorted, boat that is.. nice man to come and replace/rebuild wheelhouse roof, and sort out bits in cabin. he's going to insulate the roof, between the outer plywood skin and the inner pine T&G liner, but he's said to paint it rather than to use varnish (?) also lining the deckhead in the cabin and the sides of the seating bit, seen it on other boats and it looks very clean and tidy.

he's also going to open up the doorway (companionway?) into the cabin. 'cos i'm a big bugger. oh and raise the wheelhouse by 1 1/2". other mods are to get shot of the toilet, in favour of a cassette one. and make the toilet into a shower. rebuild the kitchen bit to use room better. and make a hardwood table to replace the melamine on i have now.

he's also suggested that i replace the veneered doors inside with louvred ones to allow air to circulate, and make a dorade box for the escape hatch on the foredeck. all in exchange for some mechanical work to his boat, making him some davits, designing a gear change etc. have a look at my boat on the home page and express a view, to what other things would benefit my family. your experience is valued. the work should be done by next spring/summer so look out then!

Mmm, T&G, bit of a swedish sauna'esque image pops into my head. Still if you've got the swedish girlies to go with it!!!

If you want any lining fabrics give me a call, I get a lot of period stuff. I've even got some BRG connerlly hide if you want it. Nice studded leather upholstery would look great in there!

Chem Casette Toilet

ever emptied a casette toilet?
You have to have a lot to drink before you get up enough courage to test the thing don't leak.
Get an old Baby Blakes - mine's been pumping sh** for over 70 years and never blocked, nor never backwashed.

Re: Chem Casette Toilet

cheers, yea' that's what i thought. i already have a blakes bog.. but the boaty man wants to make the compartment into a shower.

i think we'll rip it all out, make it good and fit a shower, but leave the "proper bog" in place. seen a few other boats that seem to manage.

cheers for the reply, steve.
