Yesterday, I got the old blue book for the Huntsman (that I am very pleased with), the boat has been called Playtime II since 1971 (the year I was born).

She (the boat) was built in 1969 (hull in 68, finished in 69) for the first year or so she was raced as Fairey Huntsman by the MD (Charles Currey) of Fairey Marine, then sold to a seargeant major colonel type who had been posted abroad to one of our colony/empire type places (when we had one).

The more astute amongst you wil have noted that I have not mentioned her name for the first couple of years or so.

Her (see how many more brackets I can do) race number was 333, apparently Charles Currey always raced with this number.

In the local lingo (I know, its getting boring, but we'll be there in a mo) from the place where the seargeant had been posted 333 was, wait for it......

"Teen Teen Teen"

Straight up, really, thats what she was called, I bullshit not. (incidently, there is another H28 called "Gay Huntsman")

Er, um, does that sound too much like the the sort of website no-one admits to looking at? Could I revert to that name? Maybe call her

"TeenTeenTeen.com"

I had a motor boat, not unlike a "fairey", called "Gay Nomad" and I would have loved somebody to approach me with a mincing gait, I'd have seen how much chain he could swim with!

You're not getting a lot of support for your teen teen idea or any thing beginning with "gay" - a word that has been subverted IMHO as they often don't seem v gay

how about "ThreeThreeThree.com" if you want?

all proprietary rights waived etc etc

Re: Poor support

Hiya D'Arcy,

It looks like I'll be moored near you next year, I have got a mooring from HRSC (promised to use boat for committee duties) just inshore of yours.

Think I'll stay with the current name, "Playtime II" I quite like and the Teen Teen Teen thing would be just a little too suspect.

Re: Poor support

Er, well yes, maybe, need final approval from the sailing committee but should be ok, thing is Col, new mooring will save 20 mins bimbling down the river plus, means I wont have to drive car up hamble lane past tesco (hmm, problem comes to light, cant stop for ready raosted chicken and crusty bread and beer) and down to yard, can hop on bycycle (spelling?) and no parking probs either.

Re: Hamble mooring

Great stuff

Look forward to seeing you (as long as you're discreet about our mooring skills)

It was a song.

Fairey - as in Fairey aviation, started Fairey Marine, and built some super boats like mine.

Huntsman - the designer was Ray Hunt, creditied with the creation of the deep Vee hull.
