It's bootiful

So true, we chartered one some years ago whilst looking around to buy. It was just about our ideal layout.
As we couldn't buy a new one when the time came, we bought a Jeanneau S.O.40 instead - very similar in many ways...
I'd still rather have the Scanmar though - given the choice...

Great choice - We've had ours a year now and have been absolutely delighted with her. That said, its surprising how quickly you start eyeing up the 34!

you mean this one?

What can I say, I have owned the same boat, a Rival 34, for 20 years. The more I look around, the more I realise that there is no other I would rather own. She is easy to handle, has perfect manners and has handled gales at sea with no problem. Not only that, but she is beautiful to look at.

Hi Shelagh

She sure is a bonny boat. And welcome to the forum.

Just noticed that Dyflins original requirements were to be able to afford to keep her so thats Eleanora out and my E-Boat still in.

Well I've spent a lifetime looking for the perfect boat and I've come to the conclusion that the enjoyment has much more to do with the perfect partner with which to share them!

However, my current perfect boat would probably be a Fairways Fisher 37, or if as you suggest someone else is paying, a Northshore Fisher 46, the name change having to do with my budget!

h00 - looks like a William Garden? One changed hands donw here in Auckland last year for under NZD$100,000 after it arrived from Hawaii in a bit of a state (name = Persistence emthinks). Now looking better and sitting at Gulf Harbour.

That's what it is. A Hardin Voyager 45, designed by William Garden. I don't like modern plastics and having looked at all of the Taiwan ketches, the Hardin has by far, the best use of interior space of any of them.IMO That's probably because they were fitted out to Bill Hardins specs. Much better interior than Vagabonds, Formosas, etc. We are in negotiation for one now, but I don't think we will be successful, as the seller has some strange ideas on how to sell a boat. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
