Your dream boat, money no object ????????

Do you think one would be allowed to buy a boat like that without being a member of one of the 'Royal' yacht clubs?

I mean, I've even been refused membership of the Northney Cruising Ascc!

Well she's just got back from a world circuit, visiting all the off the beaten track locations, so suspect she's unlikely to be flying a white ensign!

I'd persoanlly get more pleasure from buying a boat like that, and then NOT joining a 'Royal' yacht club!

I would personally enjoy, (if I owned a boat like that), telling The RYC that they just weren't up to snuff! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Really? No 14 is "Ryvingen" is it not? I sailed on the very same boat in the 90ies when I was a student!

RS14 is Stavangar. Formerly owned by Jeppe Nielsen and now waiting for a museum to be built before she's taken ashore.

I can't find any mention of a rescue boat called Ryvingen. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Your all wrong, RS14 is 'Stavanger' /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The third one built, in Larvik, in 1901.

For a real treat there are some vidoes of the boat here:

"Ryvingen" was formerly called "Fram", built 1919. It says here (in the second pdf called "kulturhefte" that she was No 14.

http://www.ryvingen.no/

Anyway when I sailed on her she did not have a number in her mainsail.

Ah but now I finally got it. They could both be no 14, with Ryvingen being a pilot boat not a lifeboat. So she is LS 14, while Stavanger is RS 14. I must have had too much snaps with that Christmas smorgasboard yesterday...

I was wondering if it was something like that. I only have a list of the Rescue boats and couldn't find her on it.

The videos are good. Though there are a few minor continuity errors in the first one. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The videos are great! I now realise we were cheating all the time, Ryvingen does have an engine! I am a bit curious how that guy got the case of beer down into the dinghy...shame they cut that scene away! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

We're now officially on holiday, and are going sailing in the sun!! HOOOORAY!!!!!

(Just a thought, So many Mobo'ers have said to me in the past, that in every Raggy there is a Mobo'er trying to get out, I think that this thread proves that theory incorrect! Once a raggy, always a raggy! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
