Talking to a friend of mine yesterday, I say 'friend' more of an acquaintance really. He was moaning the cost of running his yacht. Apparently he paid out over $80,000 in mooring fees this year in places like Monte Carlo and Nice. The 9 full time crew he has costs another small fortune and now he cannot get insurance on his Helicopter because of his age and must either sell it or take on a Pilot. Tomorrow he has to fly to New York to sort out financial affairs as he is too cash rich in the present economic environment.
I feel so sorry for him. I'm sure that all of us here in the Forum pray that his problems are sorted out soon.

They say 'a problem halved is a problem shared' so I'm quite willing to have donated to me some of his wealth which would help him out in the present economic climate. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It\'s all relative, innit

It's an issue for him,

for most Thames AWB's it's not scraping their gelcoat on the thoughtfully provided concrete infrastructure, scratching against yet another fallen tree.

For me it's more an issue of how to keep my lovely crew happy (boating-wise), and not having more bit falling off me than more bits falling of my bit of tin.

Each have their own expectations.

Now, Byron, you of all people should know that using the 3rd person in a story is a thinly veiled attempt to get sympathy from your own situation!

Funnily enough I am sitting in the lounge at NCE having just spent a couple of days in Monaco. Very sunny but sadly too windy for me to hire a day boat /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I reckoned no-one would fall for the sea trial trick on the bigger boats....

My situation.... my savings consist if 1p & 2p coins in an old fashioned china piggy bank. Some nights I pull on my fingerless woolen gloves, light a candle and lovingly count and recount them cackling to myself because Eileen doesn't know of my hoard.

Hate to disillusion you but Eilleen is well aware of your Piggy Bank.
I understand she is quite content for you to look after the pennies while she looks after the pounds ! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Seriously, it's a bad day when a man, who worked hard and smart for his wealth, has to worry about it because of others greed.

I empathise with him.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Byron, how many times have I warned you not to go slumming with underprivileged people. One of these days you are going to regret it.

I know but I am a sucker for a sob story. I felt sorry for this same person when he really loused up one of the biggest companies in the world (many many years ago) and they paid him £2 million to go away. We all thought he'd never get another job. Within weeks he was Chairman of a household name and he got a Knighthood in the following New Years Honours List.
