You Know when you're getting old when...

Re: You Know when you\'re getting old when...

reminded me of a typically 60's poem by Roger McGough (just a few verses - I won't bore you with the lot!):

Let me die a young man's death
not a clean & in between
the sheets holywater death
not a famous-last-words
peaceful out of breath death.

When I'm 73
and in constant good tumour
may I be mown down at dawn
by a bright red sports car
on my way home
from an all night party

....

Or when I'm 104
and banned from the Cavern
may my mistress
catching me in bed with her daughter
& fearing her son
cut me up into little pieces
and throw away every piece but one!

A friend of mine used to say you know your getting old when you still chase the girls

Just don't remember WHY!!

>>>and the Uptown Girl they know is by West life not Billy Joel

That is truly sad. My usual challenge to anyone who likes popular music is "can you name ONE cover version that is better than the original"?

Its when you are kind to yourself, go to bed at a reasonable hour and wake up with a hangover.

Middle Age - After you've painted the town red, you're happy to wait for it to dry thoroughly before applying a second coat.

Old Age - You no longer want to paint the town red - so garish. a nice beige is so much more tasteful

...when some of the Innovations in the catalogue look appealing. Although "Lovemaking In The Home" on VHS still won't be gracing my shelves...
