You get what you pay for

How many times do we hear this phrase ?

The only way we will ever get sensible prices for boaty things is to simply not pay inflated prices for items that we can source elsewhere.

For example I saw a quote from a marine petrol supplier to the effect they were not in competition with supermarkets so could charge (30%)more. Where do they think trailboats get their fuel ? Why do we all have jerrycans? Or my dehumidifier which was less than £100 on the high street, or my anodes at half price by mail order and so on

How about adding details of any bargains you have discovered ?

Well I've found a Portable 12/240V TV and radio for free in a Viking catalogue.

God know why (as we already have 32 inch Loewe Aconda) but my missus bought a black and white telly CRT (runs on 12v) from our local Safeway for £20. Would be ideal for pov/skinflint who wants a little telly for the boat.
