Come on people lighten up. This place is starting to get grim, you all suffering from S.A.D or what. We've got people jumping down other people throats for no reason, we've got the in crowd oil burners and the out crowd spirit burners having a go at each other at the drop of a hat. Pining galore and people asking if new boats should be launched. Then there's the accountants of the forum, seemingly more interested in depretiation and losses over retail.
Tempers are running high over suspected trolls and totally rational people are becoming suspisious of their own shadow.

I on the other hand are so laid back, I'm almost horizontal. So whats it to be, a winter of back biting and sniping at each other. Or a return to the days of jovial banter and the odd legpull. I for one am getting a bit cheesed of with the forum of late. Its no fun anymore and I think thats the point. Your not having fun so deepdown you don't want others to.

Go on, time to slag me off now, but to be honest I don't really care. I just enjoy my boat, which runs on the dreaded petrol is nearly 20 years old and i would probably loose buckets of cash on if I sold it, as much as the weather will allow me too. Lifes too bloody short!!!

Have to say that there does appear to be a bit more whinging lately, but then along comes a gem like KevL's outboard experience, which I have to say had me in tears and really brightened up what had been a really sh*tty day at work. So it's not all doom & gloom.IMHO

The \'mobies\' are coming......

I, also, have beeen pondering over the lamentable diatribes we have been subjected to of late but caught myself short when I realised that my attempts to humour, trivialise or shame some posters into better ways was in itself contributing to the dross factor.

I am therefore currently developing Boatone's very own Post Categorisation Awards scheme which I expect to introduce shortly. This will take the form of 'mobies' which are rather like smilies except that they will allow peeps to comment 'without comment' (if you get my drift) simply by posting the relevant 'mobie' in a thread without the need for any textual embellishment.

Plans are progressing nicely but I am at present having a little difficulty designing a 'mobie' to convey the message:
" I think this poster is a waypoint short of a passage plan"

I'm having fun, I'm going to start field trials of my nearly new outboard tomorrow now that I've got the .... errm ..... bench testing over with.

Note to myself.. make sure SWMBO packs an extra set of dry clothes..

No problem there, it's hanging form a set of davits on the back of the boat, or at least it was last time I looked. I do however anticipate that there could be the story of the sinking outboard posted early next week after I have tried to clamp said outboard onto the back of the tender, along with tips and tricks for outboard retrieval.

So from the replies thus far. The solution to the dilema will be to search the deepest depth of my subconious and see who's been planting subliminal messages to make the board seem a grim and depressing place. All the while compose a number one seller of a rather jolly ditty that is so intoxicating that it just has to be sung from dawn till dusk!

If thats not enough, while walkingaround singing my heart out, I've got to laugh at all the poor souls I see having mishaps that threatens life and limb. From testing rather high revving outboards that are house in woefully small containers of water. That deposit said water over all and sundrie when the forward or reverse gears are sellected in a blind panic!! Then musing over what has just been witnessed, thing of a title for said poor soul and give this title a witty and humerous slant and award it as a booby prise in the form of a boatie?

All the while thinking of uses for whizzing outboard props clamped to an offcut of sustantial timber while in a confined space in a woefully small container with the outcome of such actions in mind and preparing for any mishaps along the way by asking my hardpressed wife to make sure that a fully and laundered wardrobe of clothes be available for all and any outcome!

So basically if I haven't been tipped over the edge and trod the fine line of sanity as yet, your all determined that by the end of this thus far deppressing season of the year, that I will well and truely be admitted to a physciatric hospital while singing continously, laughing a crazed laugh at everyone that my gaze happens to fall on, all the while plotting against people that have been messing with my mind and thinking of incredibly stupid things to do with outboard motors!!

Yep the forums returning to normal already!! GOD HELP ME PLEASE

Just hang on a little while....have asked Byron to lend you the white canvas jacket thingy with the funny arms and Learner and Whisper have agreed to set aside their differnces and nip over to help you put it on........not sure what to do next but at least that should give us some breathing space while suggestions are solicited for your longer term care.........

Just take poor Syd for instance

It could be worse you know.... I mean just take poor Syd for instance, he's had is boat rammed by a runaway rag 'n stick within 2 weeks of taking ownership. Then as if that wasn't enough, he gets tied up and thrown in the back of a white van, then kidnapped by aliens who after they do god only knows what to him maroon him on a desert Island and if it wasn't for his forum mates mounting a huge rescue mission at considerable cost he'd still be there.

Do you hear Syd complaining..... I think not.

Some people just don't know when they are well off.

Is it winter?

Doesn't really feel like it, sat in the cockpit on Sunday sunbathing, then went out to oily flat seas, blue skies and glorious sunset, certainly will make the winter seem shorter.

Suspect however that may be the last time this year, but I said that a month or so back!

So don't tell me,......their using the KevL method of mixing up the food! Put it all in the dustbin and select forward and reverse repetivly until a "peaky" sort of constituancy(sp!) is achieved.

Re: Winter SADdo

Well BarryH

would a "humourous" story of a mild disaster of long ago, of the sort requested by Haydn, lighten your mood and your outlook of the BB?

You can just tell that I've got around to typing it up but I don't want to waste if you are really inconsolable

Anthony
