The news tells of a court case in which part of the circumstantial evidence is that the knots used to tie up the victim showed that the murderer was a keen yachtsman. He allegedly then dumped the body in Lake Coniston. Perhaps he also had lots of charts of Coniston as well, and a passage plan, but it didn't say. The body was weighed down with rocks which matched those from the suspect's garden, which might be relevant, or simply a clever fit-up.

I wonder what the best knots would be best for tying up a murder victim, and the preferred location for the disposal? Coniston sounds a bit obvious, really.

Personally I would'nt tie up a murder victim, no need. I'd just hang it over the side as a fender when a potential raftee.

Keep the body on board . Then you can sail at night singlehabded without invalidating your insurance.

I hope you don't mean Snow Leopard! With your rig, I think it would be somewhat easy to trace. Not true for most AWB's, though.

no, it was my previous boat, a tri. nicked by a german who sailed her for 18 months, selling off the gear to pay his living expenses. he was caught in sweden, not because of my boat but because he was flagged as an undesirable alien after a previous theft. he chartered a boat with a rubber cheque and vanished for another year before being nabbed in holland.

he was extradited to sweden where he served 12 months for the dud cheque. on release he was again extradited to england where he got 18 months for my boat. the boat had a hole in the bottom of one hull and no winches etc so not fit to sail home. got some money from the insurers after a hell of a struggle and sold her locally for a song. she's probably still somewhere in the baltic.
