I heard somewhere that the weir at Naburn Lock had sunk about 18 inches since built and BW had plans to build it up by 12 inches sometime soon. Anyone got any updates on when this is likely to happen or if indeed it will happen?

Reason I ask is before we had this rain, the depth of water under the DF transponder was 2 feet 8 inches at my pontoon and the posted draught of my boat is 3 feet to the bottom of the skeg.
Now the transponder is about 8 inches beneath the water line, so I don't have much to play with and on reversing out of the berth, vast clouds of sediment are getting dragged up from the bottom by the prop and getting sucked up into the cooling system. Had a thermostat jam open because of sediment last year.

I live just above the weir and I haven't heard anything but BW's (or Environmental Agency) policy seems to be based around reducing the flood risk in York so I can't imagine they are going to do anything to raise the normal water level.

I am on H pontoon in Nayburn and was at the boat last weekend - the water was certainly a good 6 to 12 inches above normal - cos the Great Crested Grebe nest behind us was underwater - good job the chicks had gone a week earlier.
