I recently booked three deliveries with Yodel, they lost one, failed to collect another after waiting 10 hours and actually delivered the third. The claims process is almost as bad as Parcelfarce but I paid for insurance so hopeful it will work out.

Any recommendations for couriers? UPS always seem to be reliable but not used them for a while.

I use MyHermes for UK deliveries. They get a bad press but they've only lost one parcel out of a few hundred that I've sent. Even that turned up eventually.

Wouldn't use them for deliveries outside of the EU though as my experience was - Sent = 1, Lost = 1.

Use the following words in a sentence.

Delivery
Ever
Delivrageddon
Company
Yodel
Worst

Why not give Rubberduck of this parish a try.
I believe his company may just know a little about delivering packages.

Kind Regards

We are more specialized, all these companies are massive sausage machines, put loads of bits in, a few get lost, a few more get damaged but you pay a tenner or whatever. We keep airlines, hospitals, JLR, JCB etc. supplied with stuff they cant afford to lose or get damaged, but charge rather more than a tenner.
Try speaking to a local courier & see if they can part load while going that way, will still be a lot more than a tenner though, or continue with the usual suspects & accept the risk.

Damaged Hidden Lost & Useless Parcel Service
Now been using APC for 2 years never lost anything and on the 1 occasion a parcel arrived damaged it was sorted and settled with 3 days

Why on earth did you do a silly thing like that? :)

Last time I got a missed delivery card from Yodel, rather than waste my time chasing through their useless system I emailed the supplier, cancelled my contract under the Distance Selling Regulations, and wished them luck extracting their property from Yodel's shambolic clutches.

APC is a network of independents who do tend to be better, I was going to recommend but didn't because someone somewhere will have a horror story. It also depends on who the local agent is.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Not a fan of APC having spent hours trying to get items delivered again to an alternate address. Usually end up going to Totton to pick it up which is a pain.

I'll try MyHermes.

I find all of these carriers fine ..... until something goes wrong and you then enter the abyss!

They also mark things as dropped so they hit their targets and deliver it the following day!

The post office / DHL / UPS all seem pretty reliable.

The low cost model passes things to self employed carriers so the "chain of custody" rapidly seems to get broken!

The trouble is, as a consumer, it isn't always obvious which carrier is being used.
I'd happily pay an extra £5 for "not Yodel", but sometimes I don't know until it's too late.

I use TNT via Interparcel for my business. Circa £8.60 + VAT, probably not the cheapest but I've found TNT great over the past six years. Only a small handful of late deliveries in thousands of parcels despatched.

Yet to find a decent carrier, some of our freight weighs a tonne, literally, and they loose that!
Most are OK until something goes wrong and then it turns into a nightmare.
I still find it amazing that customers still think "next day" or " overnite" means 9am without fail and if it goes wrong TNT will same day it from Aberdeen to Penzance! For free!
