Just got back from my YM exam, happy to report that I passed. Prep was with Hamble School of Yachting and was thorough, though the boat was a little tired. I chose them after recommendations from the forum, with Hamble winning out over the others due to their combination of good teaching and great food. The latter was well up to standard with loads of home cooked food and masses of snacks.

Feeling slightly chuffed, especially as we were warned that the examiner was extremely thorough and has a lower pass rate than some. Scariest moment? Heading into Osbourne bay from Ryde middle as the firework watchers all departed from Cowes on Friday. Best? Guess!

So, onwards. Anyone want to sell a decent sextant?

congrats well done

Congratulations. I retired from examining a few years ago after 30 years of it but I never lost the feeling I had for successful candidates, and I was almost as thrilled as they were so I know just how you felt when you were told you had passed.
