Further to Tigger Too's recent thread re the YM Offshore 38 (http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2301245 ) I thought you might like to see these lovely perspective drawings of the YM Offshore 35 (from which the 38 was derived) - these were in the December 1989 issue of YM.
I wonder if any 35's were ever built?

This issue of YM was their 1,000th, and I think it was probably one of their best ever.

For anyone struggling to read the small print on the screen without saving it to your hard drive, just press "CTRL and +" to zoom your screen.
(This useful advice was offered to me re a thread I started on the Jester Forum re a scanned article about Jester).

The YM35 is still close to an ideal design. There is an editorial article begging to be written here for the printed mag discussing what changes would be made 20 years later for a YM35 2010 edition.

Just a few tweaks for me:

An extra 9" of beam.
Beam carried a touch further after into the cockpit sections.
The length of the cockpit is a bit of an extravagance.
A Malo style hard sprayhood with integrated arch to carry the main traveler overhead.
A slightly larger rudder in spade form.
5 percent less ballast.
Finally I think the rig is over fractionalized, where are the runners?

I think I just designed the new HR37.

Re your new HR ( Humanly resourced) 37,

Ditch the DeepSeaseal in favour of a conventional greased packing,

the engine could be a handstart capable one,

the loo and shower could be reversed so you don't fall off the can at sea,

fit a retracting assymetric pole,

fancy foil keel mebbe?

Hydrovane that goes through the open transom to protect it.

Crash bar in front of the stem.

moulded rubber section along stem for same reason, as they do on catamaran noses,

Arch or boom gallows or hard top dodger to facilitate awnings, solarpanel mounts etc.

mebbe move the mainsheet?

er...

Lovely boat...

but what is that hole in the starboard stern? THe YM 38 had it too, and I could not figure it out.

I just swapped out a dreaded DeepSeaSeal for a volvo one this summer, excellent kit, but it is a stopgap measure until I work out the sourcing and realities of retrofitting a greased unit..
I like em cos you can't cook them and you can replace the packing easily afloat. I can put up with a drip or two.
