Hi,
I invested in i40 bidata device, installed log in old (probably ST40) housing... and log is not working as I expect. Deep sounder works as expected (tested with rope), and was 0.00 when I runned aground ;) Temperature works.
Sympthoms:
* at first, it was showing 0.00 on the mooring, with current around 1 knots...
* I checked by turning paddle wheel by hand, no response (still 0.00)
* I was fiddling with cables by device, than turning paddlewheel by hand started to show speed
* during sailing, reading looked right
* back on mooring, reading back to 0.00 on strong current, but turning by hand shows reading - can't imagine there is something on the hull that disturbed reading

Do you have any ideas what I could do?

Mine plays up. Manual says it should be removed from water if boat left stationary for a while but I rarely do. Slime build up causes it to stick. Twisting the unit can get it going sometimes. On other occasions it wakes up 20 mins or so after cast off. Is it running freely? You might need to replace the axle bit. Alternatively, might be a broken wire but that seems less likely.
