...in the hope of cheering up a bit you guys north of the Channel.
Not boaty, but still with a fair bit of sea and sunshine! :)
Click here rather than below for the HD version - recommended unless you're on a very slow connection.

such a beautifull spot,
and you tell us only now,
just two weeks after we've been on the island :(

thanks for posting,
very special scene,
I believe I remember where it is, a bit more to the west from the old wind turbines ?
and you mentioned about this place :)

Sorry B,
I would have thought to have mentioned it...
Yes, it's further W after the windmills, near Cala Fico, and yes, you must have seen it from the sea.
If you look from 2:20 onward, on the left side, you can see the small islet called "Il Corno", where you and your mates made the last dives. When going there from the diving center, in the last mile or so the scenery is pretty much the same, with those volcanic rocks forming a sort of lunar landscape.
Hard to tell if it's nicer when looked from the sea towards the land, or the other way round. Definitely the best spot of the island to enjoy the sunset, anyway.
Also because, aside from last Sunday (when it was used for an event celebrating film music), it's normally as quiet as it gets, with the silence broken only by the sea, wind and Eleonora's falcons... :)

Stunning scenery! Quite a crowd but certainly something to see :)

Is that a GoPro you're using? Seems to perform really well even on the backlit scenes.

+1

I was trying to persuade myself that this tiny gopro thing wont be any good on landscape and architecture but unfortunately you prove that it can be quite interesting. Mighty impressed with the contrast it can produce on the against the sun shots. Although considering it's a fisheye lense, sun is a tiny bit on the whole frame so wont "burn" too much the scene.

Yet, excellent stuff.

Do they have a steadycam frame for it MM?

no coat for me (too hot down here...), just closing the door :p

Thanks folks, glad you liked it. :)
Scubaman/Virtuvas, yep, it's the GoPro HD Hero 2.
A nice toy, I must say, in spite of its very obvious limits - particularly the very perceivable distorsion of the fish-eye lens, no zoom, and the useless u/w case.
The latest is particularly annoying, because it's sold as waterproof to 60m, but at any depth underwater the image is badly blurred.
Recently, they released a specific u/w case which should correct that bug, but I've not tried it yet.

V, I don't know if there's also a steadycam accessory, but it's actually easy to take reasonably stable clips, courtesy of the wide angle lens. Consider that in the above video I was mostly keeping the camera with one hand, either while walking on some rocks or grabbing them with the other hand...
...if you have a look at this other short video (where the camera was also hand-held, anyway), it's more decently steady.

Oh, and btw, all clips were taken at standard HD res (720), whilst the camera works also at full HD (1080).
Though imho 720 is already plenty, unless you're planning to see the videos on a large TV or a projector.

I am a convert to GoPro after recommendation by your goodself M, the thing looks like a toy camera but the results can be just amazing. Sorry for the fact this is on a commercial site but much of this was taken on a GoPro http://www.outerreefyachts.eu/new-build.html

You can probably figure which bits but still fantastic results for such small bit of kit. Thanks again M for the recommendation I would have never bothered to look otherwise.

Trev that is a fantastic video. Loved it. Makes you want to rush out and order an ORY there and then! Gonna get myself one of these GoPros...

yep, do so please, so when the new thread starts and you have your regular visits to the factory we can get some impressive fisheye construction pics, mould details etc!
You'll also be able to spend less time typing and explaing were each photo fits together, just two snaps or a 20sec video and job done.

:D
