Yeoman sport xl connection

Hi every one
I have just acquired a yeoman sport xl and am at a loss as to how it connects to my NMEA 0183 system on my yacht can anybody throw any light on how to wire it in please . I have the data power lead with 7 pin plug at end of cable. Do I need any more cables my GPS is a garmin 451 which has a NMEA2000 socket on the rear of it

Are you sure you have an NMEA2000 socket? The Garmin specification suggests not, however, you should be able the use the existing power data cable to connect to an NMEA 0183 device such as your yeoman.

HI , Thanks for that info I assume I will have to take off the yeoman data cable plug and connect the bare wires to my NMEA wires from the GPS

Basically yes. I usually rewire the yeoman to a new plug & matching socket for the bulkhead. However, my last ebay bargain usually came with the correct plug & socket.

Ok thanks I now understand what is required will have a look aroung for suitable socket for the plug or do as you do and get plug and socket once again thanks
