Yeoman Sport Plotter

I tried emailing them yesterday and haven't got back, and I am leaving London today, so my business will go elsewhere. Don't like their lack of prices on the website either- the pdf seems out of date and confusing, and the ad in the mags is misleading.

As for Yeoman plotters, I am keen on these, seem an elegant solution, interfacing "proper" charts well. I wonder if they really are as simple to use as appears.
I like how they would simplify planning, and the "screen" is far larger and daylight visible than anything digital.

I was happy with the solar panel and price when I used them at LIBS. Been friendly on the phone too when asking about sails.

Can't seem to find them on their website. Hmmm.
I was Googling for Yeomans earlier; although I'm after the Nav Pro, I saw a Sport for 333 I think. I'll go hunt it down again.

Fact is they are simple to use, we inherited one on our boat and if it should ever give up, I'd buy another.

Although I've not heard of them and unsure how safe and reliable they are.

Bought several bits from him, he contributes on the forums, good service.

They're not that good at replying to e-mail; and yes, their price pdf is out of date.
This is not a bad thing.

Phoned them two weeks ago, when I bought mine, they quoted me a price 45 quid more expensive than on their website.
Told them. "Ah, in that case you can have it at the website price".
Even threw in P&P.

Sounds like the sort of service we all like.

Unfortunately, when I rang them yesterday, they wouldn't sell me a Raymarine C80 at the price they advertised in the latest YM. But then, it was only £100.95!!

Something to do with decimal points in the wrong place, damn it!! Was worth a try though, the ad did state 'crazy price'.

Thanks for all the responses so far - I had e.mailed Yachting Universe TWICE re their price and asked if they were supplying recent models and if they were in stock - no reply, so rather suspicious.

To answer the question about ease of use ....
They are excellent. I have just upgraded boats (new one has latest E series and navionics etc etc) and have just swopped my old Sport for a PRO so I can still have proper charts and can plot where I am. I have no faith in the electronic stuff not giving out one day.
(And the yeoman can work with my hand held GPS and a big torch battery should you ask!)

I think that the sale of goods act, says something to the effect 'If it is on dsipaly/advertised at a price then that is what they have sell it at' 'offer to treat' and all that ! !

Keep trying, Steve is probably sailing!

Look up stephensails on the user list. I bought a DSC VHF and a Garmin 152 from him. He operates just down the road from here, I know he's legit.

PS I have no conection with his business, just a happy customer.

Sailing.... I wish! My boat is at the bottom if the que of about 10 boats that I had promised to fix for my customers before my crash.

Not sure why his emails have not reached me, I have PM'd him.

Cheers

Stephen
