In 12 months Sara T used 266 gallons of diesel and ran for 150 hours.
Total fuel bill @ 1.60 per gallon was 425.00 quids.
Main trips were tidal with several upriver ditch crawlings and a trip to Windsor during the summer.
To put stuff into perspective spent 200 quid getting props unmangled(twice) and a single leg ram cost an eye watering 450.00.

Re: fuel protest on way?

Looks like fuel protests are likely to start again soon.

see <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.lesstaxonfuel.co.uk/News.htm>HERE</A> for information.

What are your thoughts?

Re: fuel protest on way?

So you are happy to pay 350% tax on your fuel - Im afraid you are the selfish one looking after your own personal afairs - OK for you if you can afford to pay through the nose for fuel but many cannot afford fuel.

Typical southern attitude - F%$& you jack I'm alright.

Re: fuel protest on way?

I think that the protestors were not selfish at all.
There comes a time with any governement when the people just have to say NO. That is what happened and the governmnet backed down.

Governments waste the hard earned money that they take from us ... there is so much of that waste around there is no need to give examples. I think that the wholse system needs changing but there is little chance of that ... in the meantime I am against any form of higher taxes anywhere - every penny the government takes from us gives them the power to remove out freedom of choice on spending that penny ... so good luck to the protestors .... and I hope they win like last time.

Time travelling protestors

I can't understand that http://www.lesstaxonfuel.co.uk/News.htm report.
It says "starting Friday 19th November 2004 the first Refinery picket will begin at Cardiff"
Then follows with "Protest in Cardiff Went Ahead" reporting a huge success with 200 trucks and cars turning up, and even a picture.

HOW DID THEY DO THAT?

If they can go forward to protest, could they not drive back in time and fill up bowsers with fuel at 2 shillings a gallon? /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Re: fuel protest on way?

What I meant was that the protesters clearly have a gripe against government policy, but they didn't aim their protest at the government. Instead of aiming their protest against the government, they took action against thousands, (ten, hundreds of thousands) of ordinary people. That's the same logic as secondary picketing.

I you are averaging 1.8 gallons per hour you must either spend a lot of time at displacement river speeds or have some amazing gizmo for frugal fuel consumption.

Explain all !!

Worst GPH return was 8 GPH on Thames trip in tidal section. All of the ditch crawling done at 400 rpm or 1000 if in tearing hurry. On any decent run will always use tides for best effect.Think that my volvos were built on the constant output variable noise principle,so opening throttles merely increases noise with no extra speed .
