Year on year expense of 50ft motorboat

Thanks everyone for your advice, I'm no longer sweating about getting it wildly wrong!

+3 on the 10%. If you bought a new'ish boat for £500k it would mean £50k costs. If you buy an old boat at £100k it would be £10k - madness.

We budgeted, excluding getting a tender next year, DSC VHF, berthing, fuel and insurance around £10k for the first year. This is because we wanted some, mainly cosmetic work done, along with a prop repair, engine service. We are also going to get some scratches and crazing repaired as well as a full cut polish and antifoul. I hope to come in under that but would rather have some contingency built in.

BTW. I asked the same questions before I bought, did loads of research and I got some mad figures from some. IMO there are plenty of responses above from far more experienced owners than I and so would go with a balance of what they estimate plus a bit extra.
