Am I doing this wrong?
I search YBW forum for "PSS" and get no matches,
I search YBW forum for "PSS shaft seal" and I get everything that uses any one of those 3 words inc. many posts that don't mention PSS at all.

yet when I search Google for "PSS shaft seal" and get 8 direct matches on ybw.com without even qualifying the domain.

I dont want to start another thread that may have been answered already, but whats the point of the ybw search if Google is better?
But maybe I've got it wrong?

A google search is better, the forum search is not very good at all. I don't see this as a problem as nobody pays for coming on this forum and I am happy with the free service provided.

Just use google search, as most of the rest of us do.

Ok , understood, all this is free and v. welcome it is!
But if I were I YBW I'd hide their knowingly disappointing search if thats the best it can do or point it to Google.
One assumes a local search engine has a bit more relevant grunt within a limited scope, but it seems not so here.

I will use Google then, thanks MrCramp

did you use the " " around the three words?
so the search would be "PSS shaft seal" including the " " to enclose the sentence.

anyways, is this any help?

If I did it would be very specific to that particular phrase, excluding other presentations of PSS like "PSS stern gland" or similar
"PSS" is a brand name and is all that would have been needed, but it found nothing, unlike Google, so it looks like I should use that.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Forum search won't work like that.
BrendanS will explain why not with words I don't understand!

Use the Google advanced search. Scroll to the bottom of the page after sticking something in the text box to find it.
Limit the search to YBW.com/forums

Forum search don't really work like that.
BrendanS will explain why not with words I don't understand! Doesn't use Bolean logic or something

I believe the built-in search doesn't work for words of three letters or less, which is why PSS on its own didn't work.

Google search is better than most things. They have hundreds of thousands of computers and a lot of very clever people.
