Morning all,

Looking at options for a satellite tracker for us that we just leave on . We have an iridium go for large crossings for weather and emails etc but the airtime cost to leave always on is a lot.

So after something that will provide worldwide tracking we can just leave on with the option for sos if needs be etc

Narrowed it down to either the yb3 or Garmin inreach mini 2.

Yb3 costs more to purchase but airtime plan a bit cheaper so similar costs after about 2 years for either option.

Thoughts?

Yes, we have ais but that is obviously just in VHF range

Update on this, managed to purchase a used yellowbrick 3 professional version and very happy with it so far.

Hi and no regrets at all ref the yb3 as the tracking function is very good and I think the cost is reasonable regarding the airtime and the credits. Messaging works well (basic text messages) and the SOS function is a nice to have.

We use either iridium go or starling for weather updates when offshore .
