It's Old gaffers this weekend at yarmouth - IOW, Guess the harbour will be packed. Is it worth the effort to go in and look (if you can get in) or just stay away and watch the racing and boats from the water. Anyone been in the last few years.

I think you'll find the harbour is full but you may be lucky and get a bouy outside. We booked our space last year (smug look) /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

If you get lucky look for the forum flag and come and say hello.

So, were any forumites there in the end? Flyingjunior and me were on 'Black Rose'- 47' without the 18' long bowsprit. A bit packed, wasn't it? We arrived and were told by the harbourmaster to raft up alongside a certain Mr C*nl****s boat- but for some reason or other to do with him being very important and being the committee boat and having very important landlubber guests who couldn't cope with clambering across decks etc we had to naff off.
Cracking sail Saturday am- didn't race as we had a bit of a leak and a dirty bottom and inexperienced crew (meaning me!) but whole thing v. impressive.
Didn't get round to looking for forum flags- the call of the beer tent was too strong...

We were there Sunday afternoon but left the boat at home - shame the weather had taken it's toll and a lot of people seem to have headed off. Some very good entertainment/music this year.

I was in the area Wed- Friday, I didn't go into Yarmouth as I knew it would be packed, however did overnight in Newtown Creek.

I hav'nt seen such interesting craft on the Solent for a while, just lots of small gaffers, luggers and so on. A real treat!

I know its a bit late now but it might be useful information for next year for those wanting to go and not being able to get a berth. Whitelink have an offer on their web site to print out a voucher. 2 adult day returns for a tenner.
Could berth in Lymington and take the ferry over for a days fun?
